Let the renovation begin…
Owning a home built in 1961 has its unique challenges. But oh how we love our Charles du Bois – Midcentury Modern. She’s got some repairs that need to be made and we are beginning our journey to bringing her back to her glory days. Adding some lighting like this natural basketweave lamp from IKEA, to hang over the large dining area.
From landscaping to roof replacement there’s a ton to do. This home was original until the home was planned to be listed. The agents encouraged the seller to paint the home inside and out and remodel the kitchen and baths. Unfortunately, this was the cheapest route possible and we feel it would have been much better to have left it original. Either way, we have to renovate it all as the painted-over tile in the shower is peeling and the popcorn ceilings are showing their age.
The yard was completely barren hard dirt, with a few dead trees amongst an outdated exposed aggregate patio and the remnants of an old garden shed. We knew we had our work cut it for us. Luckily the backyard was a blank canvas and our first priority. We quickly got to work and cleared the space for our new vision.
We’d love to invite you along as we blog the adventure. Stay Tuned……
